Who is behind all this?
My name is Barak Melamed and I am a part of a struggling young band called: THE B. We are four musicians from Israel that have been creating great music that you haven’t heard of – until now…
Our music is in English and in a Hebrew speaking country that likes to listen to mostly Hebrew songs coming out of the radio it’s a little hard to get by.
What's our music like? We sound a little like if Joni Mitchell, Led Zeppelin, Queen and the police met and had a band session, to put it simply it sounds like good old rock’n roll. One day we sat down in the middle of band practice and asked ourselves what is it we want the most:
Practice? Record another song? Perform in some dark club that wont pay?
There is so much work trying to make it happen being a band, it’s a real job Jack said, one that most times leaves you with nothing but a few people clapping if anyone is in the audience at all. During that weekend, after thinking about what I want the most as a musician and what is buried beneath all our thoughts it hit me...
...and at 1:30am Sunday, December the 23rd, 2007 - Good Enough for Wembley was born.
What are your goals for Good Enough for Wembley?
I lost my mother to cancer. I nearly lost my brother and Jack the band's bass player to cancer. So sadly I know this disease from up close.
That's why we are going to donate any profits from sponsorship ads, band registration fees, fan donations, merchandise, etc. to organization leading the research of cancer treatment and fatal diseases worldwide.
We will give as much as possible and encourage as many sponors as we can to donate as much money as they can. That, and playing music, are our only goals.
What does Good Enough for Wembley mean?
The answer lies in two questions that you have to ask yourself:
1. Do I have a band?
2. Are we good enough to play at Wembley Stadium?
If the answer is Yes for both questions - you're in luck. Because this site’s main goal and my life’s dream is to get my band and as many other bands (known or unknown, as long they've never played in Wembley:-) from around the globe to come and play the concert of a lifetime at the legendary stadium.
Who gets to play at Wembley?
Well, if you love music, work hard enough and play until your fingers hurt you're probably half way there.
It doesn’t matter where you’re from, how old your band mates are, how well connected your father is or how great you look.
It’s all about the songs, all about just how good your music really is. And if you’re good enough - Good Enough for Wembley will get you there with all expenses paid so you can concentrate on rocking your music.
How many bands can sign up?
Any bands - all the bands of the world - should sign up (as long as they've never played at Wembley).
How long until Wembley?
When there is history to be made there's no time to lose. We'll post a bulletin in the news as soon as a final date is set.
How do I get my band to Wembley?
It's simple: Sign up, put in your band name, add a picture and then upload your best songs (in MP3 format).
You get to upload up to 3 songs, so choose the the songs that say we are the best band in the world!
Fill in all the contact details for someone in the band so we can get in touch with you in the event you get chosen.
Now the magic happens, we give you the coolest internet instrument known to man today: A widget.
When used correctly this widget could be your ticket to Wembley.
The Good Enough for Wembley Widget is an audio voting software. The only thing you need to do is to post it everywhere you can - your MySpace, website, blog, anywhere - and let people vote for you!
Other people (friends, family, anyone!) can post your widget on their site too, making it so more fans can be exposed to your art.
Who are the sponsors?
A sponsor could be any organization that owns a website. By choosing a favorite band the sponsor agrees to post the bands widget on its site and by doing so the sponsor receives traffic impressions and a sponsorship ad during the concert.
Bands who get sponsored get a lot of exposure and their chances to get to Wembley are a lot higher then unsponsored bands. Sponsors who choose the justify band will huge exposure when that band gets to Wembley.
How do I use the widget?
Copy and paste the widget code in any code enabled spaces such as: MySpace, Facebook, your web site or a blog that has a text box for embedding code. All that's left is for fans to use the widget and vote.
Facebook: It's very easy to embed the widget into Facebook. Just go to our search engine, type in the name of your band and click the "add widget to Facebook" button beneath your band description.
Why should I sign up to Good Enough for Wembley?
A. You help find a cure for cancer with every vote!

Sign up now!
How many times a day can I vote?
Once a day.
How much does it cost to sign up?
It’s free to signup if you’re a fan. It’s almost free if you’re a band.
We need all the money we can get in order to pay Wembley (and everything else) and as musicians we have to make each cent count because: “These god damn food stamps don’t buy dippers” (Eminem),
So for each second of a song you upload you pay: ONE CENT. For example; 3.45 minutes song = 225 seconds so your total will be: $2.25.
That’s it - one second one cent.
So, does that mean a band can upload a 30 second song and pay 30 cents? In theory, yes. Is that a good idea? No.
Why? Because people don’t like 30 second samples, good enough also mean we need to act as professionals and with respect to our music and fans. So full songs only please, samples are just not going to cut it.
Are all these cents going to be enough?
Before answering that let me say that I am as serious about this as Toccata and Fugue in D minor by Johan Sebastian Bach (if you don’t know who that is, don’t bother signing up). It’s all about the music, about screaming till my lungs burst and till there is no more fluids in my body and my piano is completely shocked and broken because of my Jerry Lee hands.
So, are all these cents really going to be enough? Maybe. But that’s why there are sponsoring companies as well; Apple, Google, SonyBMG and others will want to be a part of this. We will make so much noise and generate so much talk about our songs and about all these wonderful bands that we are going to get the worlds attention. And do you know why they are going to pay us attention? (Feel free to shout):
BECAUSE I AM A MUSICIAN AND MORE THEN ANYTHING IN THIS WORLD I WANT TO PLAY MY MUSIC!
Where is all the the advertising?
I don't like these things. I prefer a clean site that has all there is to do about OUR music and not about the latest music player for $4.99. Advertisers can get their way once we get to Wembley.
Who built this site?
Adi Ittelman programmed the code. He worked like a single construction worker obsessed with building the Egyptian pyramids. He has a company called Netone and it took three months of hard "pyramid" work to get this thing going. If you want/need a site or something web related follow the Netone link. Thanks Adi.
And what about design?
Uri and I did it. looks nice, no?
Final words...
Music artists whereever you are!
Are you good enough for Wembley?
I know we are and we think the only way to get there is to start here.
Our music could help heal this disease!
Signup, get people to vote and hear your music,
pass the widget as far and as “loud” as you can.
Practice and then practice and then practice.
And then practice some more. -- Barak Melamed, Musician.
